Activities of sammlung druckwerk – sammlung paperboxx in 2024
2024 was an eventful and challenging year for us. In addition to our usual collecting activities, we were able to take over two collections, one on children’s and young adult literature with 12,000 volumes and a collection of 3,000 fanzines. In total, we now have more than 48,000 works from the period from 1880 onwards (around half of which are of international provenance) and, just as importantly, our holdings of secondary literature and grey literature have continued to grow considerably. A large part of our work has been digital cataloguing, which is now complete. The collections are currently still in three locations, and our aim is to centralise everything as soon as possible. In the medium term, we also want to make the collections accessible to third parties. With external help, we were able to upgrade our transnet in 2024, which supports the activities of our collections and will optimise our information procurement and processing with the use of AI. The number of external enquiries from Germany and abroad has increased, primarily regarding children’s and young adult literature – we have made time for all of them. We will continue to advise collectors on setting up and maintaining their collections – we have in-depth expertise in this area. We will continue to welcome any questions or comments, and criticism is of course also welcome.
A lot is planned for 2025 – we will report on this in the following posts.
